10 Nights 11 Days Itinerary of Luxury India Tour With Oberoi Hotel

Tour Routing: Delhi – Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Jaipur – Udaipur – Mumbai

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi (stay at The Oberoi, New Delhi)

Our Luxury India Tour with Oberoi Hotels kicks off in the capital city of Delhi, where you’ll be met on arrival at the airport by a member of our team and chauffeured to The Oberoi, New Delhi. The swanky Oberoi New Delhi is perfect for those who’re seeking excellent service with a range of facilities and is one of the city’s best luxury hotels. Recently having re-opened after an extensive two-year renovation, the Oberoi boasts the most luxurious rooms in the capital and state-of-the-art clean air technology. Those who prefer history and colonial art will be happier at The Imperial, and for high-octane Indian glamour, The Leela Palace is perfect. Another comparable alternative is The Lodhi, which is well suited to those seeking understated and contemporary, Aman-style luxury. With all our tours being tailor-made, we’ll design every detail around you; from the destinations to the experiences, to the hotels.

The rest of the day, if any, is at leisure to settle in, and recuperate from your international journey. Depending on how early in the day you arrive, if you’d like to begin exploring this afternoon, you can let us know anytime. Your chauffeur is always on hand, and we’re only a quick call away on your complimentary mobile phone (or WhatsApp, if you prefer).

Delhi

Day 2: In Delhi

Explore the best of India’s capital city today with a guided tour of both Old and New Delhi. You’ll spend the first half of the day discovering the narrow streets and souk-like bazaars of bustling Old Delhi. The second half will introduce you to a fascinating Sikh temple, followed by Humayun’s Tomb – a Mughal monument thought to have inspired the design for the Taj Mahal. We also suggest visiting Qutab Minar and India Gate; two of Delhi’s most iconic landmarks. (There are lots to see in Delhi, and this is merely our suggestion. Our flexible approach means you’re welcome to tweak the schedule with your guide on the day). After a busy day of sightseeing, we suggest dining at the Oberoi this evening. Still, if you’d like to dine out, we have a selection of tried and tested recommendations (favourites include Indian Accent and Bukhara).

Day 3: Delhi to Agra (stay at The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra)

The next stop on your Luxury India Tour with Oberoi Hotels is Agra – home to the magnificent Taj Mahal and The Oberoi Amarvilas hotel. After having had the chance to freshen up over lunch, you’ll be met by your guide to explore Agra Fort, followed by the Taj Mahal in its most beautiful light – glowing a warm orange at sunset. Back at The Oberoi Amarvilas this evening, your Premier Room affords a wonderful view of the monument. Without the restriction of visiting hours, you can catch the Taj Mahal glittering in the moonlight after dark or a peachy pink at dawn. For an exceptional experience, we recommend upgrading to the Premier Room with Balcony. As the name suggests, you have a private terrace with a view of the Taj Mahal. Enjoy a four-course dinner served exclusively on your balcony, gazing at the Taj Mahal, for the ultimate luxury India experience. On a side note, one night is generally sufficient in Agra to do justice to the Taj Mahal, but two will afford a laid-back pace if your schedule allows.

Day 4: Agra to Jaipur (stay at The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur)

After breakfast, we’ll drive you to Jaipur, also known as Rajasthan’s ‘Pink City’. En-route, we recommend stopping in Fatehpur Sikri to explore this intriguing 15th-century Mughal capital – interestingly, it was abandoned after just 14 years. When arriving in Jaipur, a representative of Indian Excursions will greet you at The Oberoi Rajvilas – one of India’s most spectacular luxury hotels. There are not many hotels in the world where check-in involves a brightly painted elephant and a fragrant shower of rose petals, but then again The Oberoi Rajvilas does not settle for anything less than spectacular! The resort is almost a destination in itself, with sprawling gardens and a 250-year-old Hindu temple in the grounds. Ideal for those seeking a royal experience when in Rajasthan, The Oberoi Rajvilas is a highlight of any luxury India tour.

Jaipur

Day 5: In Jaipur

Today you’ll be exploring the best of the Pink City on a guided tour. Jaipur is, for many, quintessential India at its best: expect a cacophony of sights and sounds, from splendid forts and glittering palaces to snooty camels and brightly painted elephants, swirling moustaches and hot pink saris! Highlights you’ll take in include Amber Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal (aka the Palace of Winds), the Jantar Mantar Observatory, and the Jal Mahal water palace.

Day 6: In Jaipur

Day six of your Luxury India Tour with Oberoi Hotels invites you to relax and enjoy The Oberoi Rajvilas, or explore further on your own – your chauffeur’s always available. You might like to take this opportunity to browse for interesting souvenirs in Jaipur’s famous markets and emporiums. (When it comes to shopping, Jaipur has something for everyone: from elegant textiles to kitschy wooden camels, even the most frugal visitor is likely to leave the Pink City with one or two pieces tucked in their case! For a souvenir with local fair, we recommend a piece of semi-precious jewellery or blue pottery).

Later, continue to Dera Amer to spend a memorable evening with elephants. It’s a magical place on the outskirts of the city, where you can spend time up close with elephants by helping to feed and bathe them, before taking a gentle walk together through the surrounding forest at sunset (Dera Amer do not encourage rides). If meeting elephants isn’t your thing, this can certainly be removed or replaced. Perhaps with a private cooking class or a special dinner recommendation. For those who are interested in spending time with elephants, Dera Amer is a fantastic and ethical place to do it.

Day 7: Jaipur to Udaipur (stay at The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur)

Today you’ll travel to the dreamy city of Udaipur by boarding a short flight (the journey is drivable, but we recommend flying to reduce travel time. If you’d rather limit internal flights and avoid long drives, may we propose including a night or two en-route at Dev Shree, Deogarh? It’s nestled in the heart of rural Rajasthan, conveniently halfway between Jaipur and Udaipur). Also known as the ‘Venice of the East’, Udaipur is abundant with lakes and ancient water palaces, drenched in all the history, romance and feudal splendour of India. After having checked in to The Oberoi Udaivilas, the rest of the day is yours at leisure to enjoy your fabulous lake-side surroundings. Nestled on the edge of Lake Pichola, this luxury Oberoi hotel is something straight out of a fairy-tale. Regarded as one of the finest hotels on the planet, in 2015 it was voted as the ‘Best Hotel in the World’ by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine in the US.

Udaipur

Day 8: In Udaipur

Today you’ll be exploring the highlights of Udaipur, accompanied by an experienced, local guide. We recommend beginning at the grand City Palace. This magnificent palace is the largest in Rajasthan and stands on a ridge overlooking the lake. Cupolas crown its octagonal towers, which are connected by a maze of narrow passageways. The rooms inside the City Palace all contain decorative art: beautiful paintings, colourful enamel, inlay glass-work, and antique furniture. Later continue with a walking tour through the old city, where narrow, winding streets are teeming with shops selling clothing, silver jewellery, and leather-bound journals. Other highlights include the Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari (a beautiful rose garden), and the Crystal Gallery. End your day on a truly special note with a private, sunset boat ride along Lake Pichola, in the Oberoi’s charming shikara (a traditional Indian, wooden boat).

Day 9: Fly to Mumbai (stay at The Oberoi, Mumbai)

Board a flight to your last destination of your Luxury India Tour with Oberoi Hotels – Mumbai. Here, you’ll be staying at The Oberoi, Mumbai. Nestled on Mumbai’s famous Marine Drive, the Oberoi affords wonderful views of the city and the Arabian Sea. The Oberoi is one of the finest hotels in this bustling metropolis, and the rooms are superbly equipped. We recommend a drink in the bar overlooking the bay; it’s a favourite with local jazz aficionados.
Mumbai

Day 10: In Mumbai

Taking the launch from the Gateway of India, a guided tour of bustling Bombay will today begin at the 8th-century Elephanta caves, home to an 18-foot statue of Lord Shiva. Continue into the afternoon to explore colonial gems such as Victoria Terminus, Flora Fountain, Horniman Circle and the High Court. Pass through the Hanging Gardens and the Jain Temple to end your day at Chowpatty Beach, or take in the buzz and excitement of Chor Bazaar. Alternatively or also, rise early for a guided tour of Mumbai at dawn, exploring the city as it wakes up, in the fragrant flower market and at the bustling newspaper sorters. We’ll tailor the sights to best suit your interests.
Mumbai Airport

Day 11: Depart from Mumbai

Today you’ll be chauffeured back to Mumbai airport in time for your onward flight. If your flight is departing in the evening, you’re very welcome to avail the services of your driver to do a bit of shopping or further sightseeing. Or, if you’d rather skip Mumbai, we can always return to Delhi from Udaipur instead, either for an overnight stay or to connect directly to your onward flight.
